The below horses are not owned by CHR.
They are currently with other equine rescues who we are assisting in rehoming these horses.
For additional info, or to adopt one of these horses,
please contact the rescue listed with the horse.
Juliette
is a 4-5 year old, 14.2 h mare,
who weighs about 750 -800 pounds.
She is very wary of human contact and impossible to catch.
However, when we had the foal as a magnet,
we could easily move her (and baby) from a large grassy paddock into the barn at night.
I could milk her, and even hold the foal under her to support him as he nursed, etc.
Now, we cannot get within 20 feet of her.
Juliette is gaited. |
Kiowa
is an 11 month old colt. Quiet, cooperative and very friendly.
He is nearly unflapple.
He is only 12.1 and weighs 372 pounds (by weight tape).
We have decided to wean him,
to give his dam the opportunity to gain weight without the stresses of lactation.
We have seen his sire,
who is a beautiful, nicely put together Curly.
We do not know if the stallion or the dam are registered with any organization. |
Sioux
(we did not know of the connection with their Native American history at the time we named her) is (I'm guessing) about 8- 10 years old.
We were to have dental evals today,
but a winter blizzard is heading our way,
so the dentist cancelled all appointments.
When that happens, I will get more info on her age.
Sioux has been abused at some time in the past.
As long as you move without any abrupt actions towards her head, she is easy to be around.
She has minimal ground manners, but is not aggressive or easily spooked.
She is about 14.2 - 14.3 hands, and will weight tape at about 750 - 800 pounds. |

Figaro
Curly gelding, will be 5 this spring. 14.3 hands tall,
well behaved, gets along with other horses very well.
Current on all his shots, wormings and trimmings and comes with current Coggins test.
Figaro, leads, loads, ties and stands for the farrier with no problems.
We are sad to say that Figaro is a pasture buddy only and cannot be ridden.
He was a true rescue at 2 years old
and was found unhandled, wild, very thin and sick.
He was rehabbed and seemed to be a sound healthy horse.
Once asked to work in training, he came up stiff on all 4 legs.
After x-rays, it was discovered that the cartilage in Figaro's joints never developed properly.
All 4 legs had issues at all the major joints
and he was not going to be able to handle the load of being a riding horse.
So now Figaro is a young, very sweet pasture buddy who just
needs a nice place to retire for someone who can appreciate him for what he can give,
companionship and affection. He is very easy going, sensitive,
sweet, very good looking and deserves a home to live his life out in.
Figaro is available for adoption through the Midwest Horse Welfare Foundation in central Wisconsin.
There is no fee to adopt Figaro, just the application
and the ability to provide a good, safe, lifelong home.
